Youth Art Competition PRESS RELEASE
6th Annual Orchard Lake Fine Art Show
Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Schools
Orchard Lake, MI 48381-0079
July 25-27, 2008
Youth Art Competition
Call for Entries
Ages 5-13 or Grades K-8

The National Association of Independent Artists (NAIA) has encouraged show directors across the country to get kids involved with our art shows. NAIA claims that, due to the cuts in art programs across the nation, it is important for events to create areas with our art shows where kids can get involved with their art work. Therefore, for the 6th Annual Orchard Lake Fine Art Show on July 25-27, 2008, we are continuing the Target “Youth Art Competition” program for kids in grades Kindergarten through 8 (or ages 5-13) to submit their art work. This will encourage kids during the entire school year when creating their art work to use more of their imagination and creativity when they know that their work is going to be submitted to a high quality art show and on public display.
The art work entered will be placed in a tent labeled “Youth Art Competition”. All entries must be original and unaided by other people. Art work medium acceptance categories includes painting, clay, fiber, jewelry, glass, wood, print making, photography, multi-media, sculpture, or metal. Each entry is $3, maximum two entries per person. To obtain an application, please go to the web site, www.HotWorks.org or send a self-addressed and stamped envelope to Orchard Lake Fine Art Show, PO Box 79, Milford, MI 48381-0079 and an application will be mailed to you. Each entry will be individually judged by participating artists. Four prizes will be awarded as follows: $100 for Best; and three $50 prizes. The winners of the Youth Art Competition will be photographed and posted on the Orchard Lake Fine Art Show web site, www.HotWorks.org, for people to view. Completed applications with a photograph of art work must be post marked by July 15, 2008. Actual art work is to be delivered to the event sight at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Schools (corner of Indian Trail and Commerce Roads) on Thursday, August 2 (between 4pm-7pm and picked up on Sunday, August 5, between 5pm-7pm.
The Orchard Lake Fine Art Show’s new Youth Art Competition has been made possible by Target Stores.
